Full set of vector playing cards

Right on the heels of my last post, here’s another file that was one of my most popular stock illustrations for years. It’s an illustration of a full set of playing cards (vector format, of course). This isn’t exactly a perfect rendition of a typical deck of cards, as I was trying to make them more icon-like than anything else. And you can probably tell how old these are because of the gloss on each one. Yeah, these are about 2006 vintage, when it was all the rage to put a gloss on everything. And I do mean everything. Looking back on my own portfolio of visual design work, I was the king of gloss back then and I’m holding my head in shame for it now. Makes me think how silly the current trend of “flat” design will look in about 5-6 years from now…

Anyway, my reason for offering it here for free is because I’m just too ashamed to sell it anymore (just like I explained about my lightbulb illustrations). I’ve certainly grown as a designer since then and if I were to sit down and draw out a set of playing cards to replace this set, I know I could do it so much better. But hey – at least it’s fun to look and see how much I’ve progressed over the years.

This file is in Adobe Illustrator CS3 format, which is old enough that pretty much any vector-editing software will open it. You can download it here.
