There are certain moments during the design phase of a project that I enjoy more than others, and one of those is the feeling of being “in the zone”. It’s a hard feeling to describe, but it’s basically when I am asked by my client to come up with as many ideas as I can for a certain problem, and the ideas seemly gush out of my head. It doesn’t always work like that, so that’s why it seems so great!
This mobile UI template came from one of those “gush” sessions. We were designing a mobile retail app where the user could browse variants of products in real time right on their mobile device, and we were trying to play with different interaction styles for that app. This particular concept involves a floating transparent box over the main product image, and moving the box around the image would change colors and veiws of the product. Yes, it was a very high-level concept, and it died quickly once we discovered a more clever way of doing the same thing.
This mobile template is 800×480 (landscape mode only) and it’s fully editable in Adobe Photoshop.
