American Airlines recently unveiled a new corporate identity, and a major portion of that rebranding effort included a new logo. That new logo is quite a bold departure from the current tried and true AA/eagle mark, and I’m willing to bet that diehard American Airlines fans (and employees) are going to have a hard time dealing with it. After all, the iconic eagle has been a part of their brand for a very long time, and getting rid of it completely is a rather drastic change IMHO.
Well, it’s not totally gone. This new logo is actually an abstract representation of the old eagle design, and with the overall shape resembling a wing and the folded cut out representing the beak. At least that’s what it looks like to me. I actually like it quite a bit and look forward to seeing it on their airplanes.
Anyway, I needed a vector version of this logo for another project I was working on, and there isn’t much out there being that it is so new. Good thing I know my way around Adobe Illustrator, right? It was actually pretty easy to recreate, and there weren’t any issues along the way.
So now I’ve got this cool AA logo without any need for it. I wasn’t even sure that I was going to post it to this blog, but then again, that’s why I built this blog – it truly is a dumping ground for all graphic design elements I don’t need anymore!
If you need the vector file, you can download it here. And since this is a real logo (and not something that I personally designed), please be careful how you use it. Better to check with American Airlines first before you use it in any commercial projects!
