Vector light bulb illustrations

One of the most popular stock illustrations I ever created was this vector drawing of two yellow incandescent lightbulbs (one showing the filament, and the other without). And now that I don’t really have interest in vector art any more, I’ve decided give it away for free. And honestly, I just can’t justify selling it – it’s really is starting to show it’s age, and I’m a much better artist these days. I know I could create a kick-ass drawing of a lightbulb today that would blow this one out of the water, but frankly, I don’t have much interest in drawing lightbulbs! Life is too short for that.

The nice thing about this style of drawing is that it can be simplified very easily in to a nice looking icon or logo without much effort. The gradients are very simple, and there aren’t any complex compound shapes that would make it difficult to work with – you could basically download this as-is, make a few quick edits to suit your personal preferences, and then do what you want with it. Personally, I think this has the potential to be used for some really fun t-shirt art. But who wants a t-shirt with a lightbulb on it? I don’t know – it’s out of my hands now, so that’s for you to figure out…

One thing worth noting is that I’ve personally used this illustration in many different ways over the years. It’s been part of a logo, multiple website banners, countless advertisements, and even as an environment map for a 3d rendering (really). How are you going to use it?
